Cause:

  • During the import of junOS firewall configuration files, some fully qualified junOS version numbers will result in the following misleading error message:
  • Importing an improperly formatted configuration file (that is missing host information) will cause this error.

Invalid configuration file selected

Resolution:

  • Remove the trailing portion of the version number from the first line of the configuration file, up to and including the hyphen.

For example, change 12.1X44-D45.2 to 12.1X44, and then import the configuration file again.

  • Make sure that the JunOS configuration file has information relating to the hostname of the device.  If this information is missing FSM will return an error.
