"Evaluate checks report" has encountered a problem

Issue: In Firewall Service Manager (FSM), while running Audit > Evaluate Security Checks:

  • the report shows minimal entries 

and/or the following error occurs in:

  • "evaluate checks report" has encountered a problem.net.sf.jasperroperts.engine.JRRuntimeException: java.lang.outofMmeoryErrirL PermGen space version of java= 7, update 25 (7.0.250).

Cause: This error occurs if Windows-2003-R2 Server with 32-bit RAM.

Workaround:
1. Close the FSM client.
2. Open Wordpad.exe as administrator
3. Open SolarWinds FSM.ini from C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\SolarWinds FSMServer\
4. Add the following lines at the end of the ini file:

-XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC
-XX:+CMSClassUnloadingEnabled 
-XX:+CMSPermGenSweepingEnabled

5. Save the ini file, then re-launch FSM client.
