Overview

This article provides brief information on setting up a SolarWinds channel.

Detail

Note: The SolarWinds channel must be on a separate NIC, and should never be defined on the same network as the primary NIC.

 

This can be done using a simple crossover cable, or small subnet for just the NICs of the primary and secondary servers.
This is required to be on a separate network for multiple reasons including:

  • Segregation of replication traffic
  • Ensuring the Heartbeats will not be affected by congestion on the main network
