Overview

While running FoE in WAN scenario, the shared DNS name is automatically updated with IP address of the passive (secondary) server causing the system (Orion Web Console) to be inaccessible.

Environment

All FoE versions

Cause

The MS Windows OS automatically registers a connection in DNS.

Resolution

  1. Log in to the FoE server using an account with administrative privileges.
  2. Open Network Connections.
  3. Open the properties of the Principal (public) NIC.
  4. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 and click on Properties.
  5. Click on Advanced button.
  6. Make sure that the Register this connection's addresses in DNS option is not selected.

  7. Click OK to save the changes.
