Overview

This Hotfix addresses a number of issues which may occur in EOC if account limitations applied on Custom Property are defined in the Orion Web Console:

  • Data type mismatch issues occur with the following error message: "The data types ntext and varchar are incompatible in the equal to operator".
  • Security error occurs when attempting to view account limitations.

 

Environment

These issues may occur with the following SolarWinds product:

  • EOC 1.6.2

This Hotfix modifies the following file on your SolarWinds Orion server:

  • SolarWinds.EOC.BusinessLayer.dll

Detail

Notes:
- Do not install this Hotfix unless you are experiencing these issues.
- The instructions contain the default location of each file.


To install this Hotfix:
-----------------------

1. Log on to the server hosting your SolarWinds EOC installation as an administrator.

2. Stop all SolarWinds services in the Task Manager or services.msc.

a. Go to Start > Run > services.msc.
b. Select the SolarWinds services (SolarWinds EOC Services Host, SolarWinds Information Service and SolarWinds Job Engine v2), and then click Stop Service.

3. Run the "setup.exe" executable on this server to extract the Hotfix archive.

4. Back up the "SolarWinds.EOC.BusinessLayer.dll" file. The file is located at
C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\EOC\bin\SolarWinds.EOC.BusinessLayer.dll by default. Save the backup copy in a different folder.

5. Place the SolarWinds.EOC.BusinessLayer.dll from the Hotfix archive to C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\EOC\bin\SolarWinds.EOC.BusinessLayer.dll.

6. Unblock the dll file if it is blocked by Windows.

7. Run the following SQL stored procedure command in the EOC Database.
Warning: Make sure that you run the command exactly as it is written: exec EOC_spInitializeCP

8. Start all Solarwinds services in the Task Manager or services.msc.

a. Go to Start > Run > services.msc.
b. Select the SolarWinds services (SolarWinds EOC Services Host, SolarWinds Information Service and SolarWinds Job Engine v2), and then click Start Service.

9.Poll all the Orion instances:

a. To initiate polling instantly, go to Settings > Manage SolarWinds Servers.
b. Select a server you want to poll, and then click "Edit Server".
c. Click "Update Server". EOC will start polling that Orion instance immediately.

After applying the Hotfix, the issues outlined in the description should no longer occur.


To uninstall this Hotfix:
-------------------------

1. Log on to the server hosting your SolarWinds EOC installation as an administrator.

2. Stop all SolarWinds services in the Task Manager or services.msc.

a. Go to Start > Run > services.msc.
b. Select the SolarWinds services (SolarWinds EOC Services Host, SolarWinds Information Service and SolarWinds Job Engine v2), and then click Stop Service.

3. Replace the backup copy of the SolarWinds.EOC.BusinessLayer.dll file in the following folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\EOC\bin\SolarWinds.EOC.BusinessLayer.dll

4. Start all Solarwinds services in the Task Manager or services.msc.

a. Go to Start > Run > services.msc.
b. Select the SolarWinds services (SolarWinds EOC Services Host, SolarWinds Information Service and SolarWinds Job Engine v2), and then click Start Service.
