Unable to install and configure EOC

Updated: March 19, 2018

The installation package completes with no issues, but when the Configuration Wizard tries to connect to the SQL 2012 server an error is received.

All EOC releases through version 1.4.x and when SQL 2012 Server used for EOC database.

If EOC and SQL 2012 Management objects are installed on the same server, EOC is not able to connect to SQL 2012 when running the EOC configuration wizard.

  • In this scenario, it is required to have SQL Server Data Tools feature installed.
  • If SQL 2012 is not on the same server as EOC, you need to install SQL Server Data Tools on the server running EOC, due to the SQL Server Management objects required by EOC.

Required components

  1. SQL Server Data Tools

  2. Client Tools Backwards Compatibility

  3. Client Tools SDK
  4. SQL Client Connectivity SDK
  5. Client Tools Connectivity

Refer to the attached screenshot of the minimum SQL 2012 configuration, which works with EOC.

The following screenshot is meant to be a guideline and details may vary depending on your SQL version. For more information about setting up your SQL Server 2012, please contact Microsoft Support.
