Overview

This article describes how to manually initialize Custom Properties configured on Orion servers. Issue with adding Custom Properties from Orion server(s) may manifests itself in EOC.PollingService.log throwing below error:

2017-03-08 07:46:40,374 [12] 7 Orion.Module.Core WARN  SolarWinds.EOC.BusinessLayer.DAL.CustomPropertyDAL - Exception when adding custom property AlertConfigurationsCustomProperties.ResponsibleTeam for SolarWinds Server 7:
System.ArgumentException: Requested value 'AlertConfigurationsCustomProperties' was not found.

Environment

  • EOC 1.6 and later

Steps

  1. Log in to the SQL Server where the EOC database is hosted.
  2. Open SQL Server Management Studio (click Start > All Programs > Microsoft SQL Server > SQL Server Management Studio).
  3. Using an account with the sysadmin role, log in to the SQL Server instance.
  4. Click + to expand Databases and select EOC database.
  5. Click New Query.
  6. Enter following query in the query field:
    exec dbo.EOC_spInitializeCP
  7. Click Execute button.

Note: It may take around an hour for the change to take effect and there may be additional errors shown on the EOC Web Console in the meantime while the Custom Properties are being reset.
