Trace Route error in .NET Framework 4.0 and Internet Explorer 11

Issue:

Selecting a node in the Orion Picker dialogue box closes the window and refreshes Trace Route and Secure Shell (SSH) tool when using Internet Explorer 11.

Cause:

Issue only occurs when using .NET Framework 4.0 with IE 11. 

 

Resolution:

Do the following steps on the main poller and on any additional websites to prevent this issue:

  1. Stop all SolarWinds services via Orion Service Manager. See Starting or Stopping Orion Services.

  2. Install .NET Framework 4.0 update.
    Refer to .NET Framework 4 (October 2013) or KB 2836939 from the Microsoft support website.

  3. Restart the machine.

  4. Log in and check the Trace Route tool.

    a. Log into Orion services.
    b. Click Toolset > All Tools.  
    c. Launch Trace Route.  
    d. Click Select From Orion.  
    e. On the Select a Network Object window, click the node you want to run a trace on, and then click Select Object.  

Trace path for the selected node should now be displayed.
