How to determine the location of Engineer's Toolset's IPAM database

This article explains how to determine the location of Engineer's Toolset's IP Address Management database in order to migrate it to a new system or to back it up.


  • All versions of Engineer's Toolset for Desktop
  • All versions of Windows


The database's default location and file name is C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\IP-Address-Management.IPDB


If this file doesn't exist, follow these steps to find where the database is stored:


  1. Run the command "Regedit.exe".
  2. Branch down to the following key:

    ​​HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\IP Address Management\Settings\
  1. Find the following registry entry:

    Database Filename


The value for this entry is the path and file name for Engineer Toolset's IPAM database.
