Getting 'Credential Test Failed' on Switchport Mapper

Updated October 24, 2017

Overview

When you test a device's credential on the Manage Credentials window, the credentials work. However, when you map ports through Switch Port Mapper on the same device and use the saved credentials, it returns a 'Credential Test Fail' error.

Environment

  • Engineer's Toolset

Cause

The Read/Write option is selected on the "Manage Credentials" window.

Resolution

  1. Log into the Orion Web Console.
  2. Navigate to the Manage Credentials page.
  3. Clear the Read/Write check box.

Read/Write is not needed on the Switch Port Mapper tool. It is always read-only.
