This article provides steps to change internal communication port used by TFTP Server. SolarWinds uses an internal communication port to communicate between the windows service and the various applications.

You may want to change the default port of 8099 if there is a conflict in your environment and another application uses port 8099 or if port 8099 needs to be blocked for any reason.

ETS version 10.6 or later

To override the default port of 8099:

  1. Shut down all Toolset applications including the TFTP Server tray application and the TFTP service.
  2. Create a file named TFTPCommPort.conf with the desired port number as the only content of the file.
  3. Place the file in the common application data directory:
    • older Windows version use C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SolarWinds
    • newer Windows versions use C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds
