Getting 'Credential Test Failed' on Switchport Mapper

Updated October 24, 2017

Overview

When you do a credential test on a device using the "Manage Credentials" window, it passes the test. However, when you map ports through Switchport Mapper on the same device and use the saved credentials, it returns a 'Credential Test Fail' error.

Environment

  • Engineer's Toolset

Cause

The Read/Write option is selected on the "Manage Credentials" window.

Resolution

  1. Uncheck the Read/Write option on the "Manage Credentials" window and save it.

Read/Write is not needed on the Switchport Mapper tool. It is always read-only.
