The Subnet List tool builds a list of network subnets by scanning route tables on a seed router. The target router must have SNMP enabled, and you must know the SNMP community string.

Subnet List is also available as a deprecated tool that is not maintained any more. For information on the deprecated version of this classic tool, see Deprecated Subnet List.

The deprecated version of Subnet List still exists in the Toolset Installation folder, the default location is \Program Files\SolarWinds\Toolset. The name has been changed to Deprecated_SubnetList.exe.

To begin retrieving subnet lists for your network:

  1. Enter the host nameorIP address of the router or server.
  2. Enter or select SNMP Credential for a core router.
  3. Click Retrieve Subnets.

Subnet List creates subnet lists by scanning route tables. If subnets have been summarized into a summary route on the router you are scanning, Subnet List cannot discover all your subnets. Direct the tool to a different router; one that does not have routes summarized.
