These release notes provide additional guidance for SolarWinds Engineer's Toolset v11.0.

New Features and Improvements

Engineer's Toolset v11.0 includes the following new features and improvements:

 

Engineer's Toolset on the Web

  • Access to real-time monitors from the Orion Web Console:
    • Trace Route
    • Interface Monitor
    • CPU Monitor
    • Memory Monitor
    • Response Time Monitor
  • Real-time data displayed using tables and charts.
  • Accessing tools from other Orion views, using a context menu for nodes and interfaces which allows you to open the selected object directly in an appropriate tool.

 

Multiple Installation Scenarios

You can install Engineer's Toolset v11 as a desktop application, access the most frequently used tools in the Orion Web Console, or benefit from both options.

As a result, Engineer’s Toolset v11 uses multiple installation packages now:

  • To install Desktop Engineer's Toolset, run the DesktopToolset installer on the appropriate server.
  • To install Engineer's Toolset on the Web integrated into the Orion Web Console with your existing Orion products, run the ToolsetOnTheWeb installer on your Orion server and choose the existing SQL database.
  • To use Engineer's Toolset on the Web with additional pollers/additional websites, please download the appropriate installer from your Customer portal.

 

New Seat-Based Licensing Model

Open Issues

Issue NetSuite Case Number

Desktop Engineer's Toolset v11.0 installation fails on Windows Vista 32- and 64-bit, or on Windows Server 2008 32-bit.

Workaround: Install .NET 3.5 manually prior to installing Engineer's Toolset.

Windows 8.1 VM - Error in installation of Engineer's Toolset on the Web

Workaround: See the SolarWinds knowledge base article ".NET Framework 3.5 installation error: 0x800F0906, 0x800F081F, 0x800F0907".

Trace Route is not loading for IP address in node details page and Orion summary page

Workaround: Run the tool again, the issue occurs only if the tool is launched for the first time.

Internet Explorer crashes in Windows 2012 R1 after installing Engineer's Toolset

Workaround: See the SolarWinds knowledge base article "Error: Engineer's Toolset - Internet Explorer Fails to Open".
