Overview

This article describes an issue where ETS Config Tools throws the following error on recently set up systems with servers and workstations:

Transfer failed bad file name

Environment

  • All versions of ETS
  • All versions of Windows

Cause

This error occurs when TFTP is unable to communicate over UDP port 69 (e.g. due to firewall configuration).

Resolution

  1. Open port 69 (UDP) or add a firewall exception to allow communication over port 69 (UDP) for the TFTP server.
  2. Allow the configurations to be downloaded via this method.
