WebinarUpcoming Webinar: Know What’s Changed – with NEW Server Configuration Monitor

Change management in IT is critical. But, even with a good change management process, changes are too often not correctly tracked, if at all. The configuration of your servers and applications is a key factor in their performance, availability, and security. Many incidents can be tracked back to an authorized (and sometimes unauthorized) configuration change, whether to a system file, configuration file, or Windows® Registry entry. Join SolarWinds VP of product management Brandon Shopp to discover how the new SolarWinds® Server Configuration Monitor is designed to help you.

Table of contents

Updated January 31, 2017

Overview

DPA by default collects stats on all SQL statements that have been seen as active on the monitored instance. This article describes how to configure DPA to collect only a limited number of stats. Limiting to the top number of rows of SQL statements when those statements are ranked by wait time.

Environment

All DPA versions

Steps

  1. Go to Options > Administration tab > Advanced options > DB Instance options tab.
  2. Select Support Options.
  3. Select an instance you want to limit stats for from the drop down menu.
  4. Scroll down to find SQLSTATS_LIMITED. This option determines if limited stats are collected from the monitored database based on wait time.
  5. Set this value to true.
  6. Set the value for the following setting to determine the number of stats rows to collect:
    SQLSTATS_LIMITED_ROWS
    (The default value is 10,000.)
