The user could not be created. Check the username and password to make sure they do not contain illegal characters

Overview

When creating a monitoring user in DPA, the following error can be seen if there are some character combinations in the password or user. 

The user could not be created. Check the username and password to make sure they do not contain illegal characters.

All DPA versions

Cause 

There are special characters in the password. 

Resolution

Create the user on the monitored instance outside of DPA and then in the DPA interface select no in the "create monitoring user option.
