WebinarUpcoming Webinar: Know What’s Changed – with NEW Server Configuration Monitor

Change management in IT is critical. But, even with a good change management process, changes are too often not correctly tracked, if at all. The configuration of your servers and applications is a key factor in their performance, availability, and security. Many incidents can be tracked back to an authorized (and sometimes unauthorized) configuration change, whether to a system file, configuration file, or Windows® Registry entry. Join SolarWinds VP of product management Brandon Shopp to discover how the new SolarWinds® Server Configuration Monitor is designed to help you.

Tablespace Freespace alerts not triggering on Oracle Databases

Overview

The Tablespace Freespace Alerts are not triggering on the Oracle databases. When testing the Alert in the DPA Web Console, the following error displays:

No Online Non-Autoextensible Tablespaces Found

Environment

  • All Versions of DPA
  • Occurs with Monitored Oracle Databases

Cause

This is because the Datafiles are configured on the Database to auto-extend. Even if just one Data File can auto-extend then the alert would incorrectly trigger. This is because the Tablespace would be approaching the Thresholds but it is not an issue as Oracle will simply grab more disk space to allocate to it.

DPA does not currently factor in what the Max File Size is and consider that in the calculation.

Resolution

Currently, the only workaround is to create a Custom Alert which factors the Max File Size into the calculation.
