Updated March 11th, 2016

Overview

If you have forgotten the repository password or need to change it, complete the following steps to change the password.

Environment

DPA, all versions

Steps

  1. Determine the location of the repository and the DPA login name. This information is displayed on the DPA login page above the User and Password fields next to the Repository label. In the example below, the DPA login is DEANPI and the database instance name is SEBOX1.

  2. Using SQL Server Management Studio, Oracle Enterprise Manager or another tool, reset the password for the DPA login.
  3. Determine where the DPA Server resides. This information is located in your URL. For example, if your URL to access DPA is http://sebox1:8123/iwc/login.iwc, then the DPA Server is named SEBOX1.
    • Note: In this example, the DPA repository database and DPA Server are both located on SEBOX1 but they can reside on physically different machines.
  4. Log on to the DPA server operating system and open the repo.properties file in a text editor:
    • Windows: The default location of this file is in the {DPA_home}\iwc\tomcat\ignite_config\idc directory.
    • Linux or Unix: The default location of this file is in the {DPA_home}/iwc/tomcat/ignite_config/idc directory where {DPA_home} is the top level directory where Ignite/DPA was installed.
  5. In the repo.properties file, modify the repo.password line to reflect the same password you used in Step 2. Type the password in clear text. Later on, DPA will encrypt the password for you.
  6. After saving the file, restart the DPA Server.
