Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 7.5 (Maipo) build 3.10.0-862.3.2.el7.x86_64
  • DPA 11.1, but may impact all DPA versions

Cause

The following mathematical fonts are found in the system.log file.  If there are no other fonts available, these mathematical fonts are chosen.

  •  cmex10 (cmex10)
  •  cmmi10 (cmmi10)
  •  cmr10 (cmr10)
  •  cmsy10 (cmsy10)
  •  esint10 (esint10)
  •  eufm10 (eufm10)
  •  msam10 (msam10)
  •  msbm10 (msbm10)
  •  rsfs10 (rsfs10)
  •  stmary10 (stmary10)
  •  wasy10 (wasy10)

Resolution

To resolve this issue, you can:

  • Locate and remove the font package
  • Install all fonts
  • Use the default STIX font for all charts

Locate and remove the problem font package

  1. Log in as root.
  2. Run the following command to determine if the mathematical fonts are installed:
    # rpm -qa|grep lyx-fonts

A list of fonts may display, similar to the following:

    # rpm -qa|grep lyx-fonts

  3. Run the following command to record and remove the name of the returned package:
    # rpm -evv lyx-fonts-2.2.3-1.el7

    or force:

    # rpm -e --nodep lyx-fonts-2.2.3-1.el7

  4. Restart DPA.
  5. Verify that the charts display normal font characters.

Install all fonts

Run the following command as root:

# yum groupinstall fonts

Use the default STIX font for all charts

This font is included with the installation.

  1. Log in as root.
  2. Open system.properties.
  3. Add the following line to the file:
    com.confio.iwc.charts.fontName=STIX
  4. Restart DPA.
