Establishing federation with jSWIS failed when integrating DPA

Updated March 20, 2018

Attempting to integrate DPA with the Orion Platform returns the following error:

Establishing federation with jSWIS failed

An error is also returned when you try to access the Orion Web Console from the server. DPA and the Orion Platform are installed on the same server.

  • DPA versions 9.2 and later
  • Orion Core 2017.1 and earlier
  • WPM 2.2.1

Orion Platform 2017.1 and later now supports Windows Authentication for SQL Server.

WPM currently does not support Windows Authentication for SQL Server so it is unable to connect to the SQL instance when this property is selected in the configuration wizard.

When the DPA integration module is creating relationships between the Orion database and the Orion + DPA websites, it happens to check tables associated with WPM. As WPM cannot connect to the Orion Database it cause the DPA integration to fail.
