Error registering database instance org.springframework.dao.TransientDataAccessResourceException: Running DDL

Updated May 12, 2017

Overview

When registering a database instance for monitoring in DPA, the following error is displayed:

Error registering database instance org.springframework.dao.TransientDataAccessResourceException: Running DDL; SQL [ Create table [CONST_13]  The server principal "dpa" is not able to access the database "<user database that is not the DPA repo>" under the current security context.

For Oracle, you may see a message similar to the following:

DatabaseRegistrationServiceImpl - Unexpected error during database instance registration
org.springframework.jdbc.BadSqlGrammarException: StatementCallback; bad SQL grammar [create synonym x$ksuse for sys.x_$ksuse]; nested exception is java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01031: insufficient privileges

Environment

All DPA versions where there is a login trigger on the repository database

Cause

This occurs when there is a login trigger on the repository database instance that is moving the connection to another database that the DPA user does not have access to.

Resolution

Disable any environmental login triggers and re-run the wizard for registration.
