Bypass certificate errors during DPA offline deactivation

Updated December 14, 2018

Overview

When you deactivate a DPA license, the procedure fails, even when you deactivate offline.

Environment

  • All DPA versions

Cause

Unable to read the certificates in the DPA trust store, even though the server can connect to the licensing server. As a result, the deactivation procedure fails to finish.

Resolution

  1. Navigate to the License Manager Page located at:
    http://HOST:8123/iwc/licenseManager.iwc
  2. Locate the license key you want to deactivate.
  3. Copy the license key string.
  4. Replace the key below with the license key above in the following line: /iwc/licenseManager.iwc?action=offline_deactivate&key=1111-2222-3333-4444-5555-6666-7777-8888
  5. Append the above URL to the URL in Step 1.
    For example:
    http://HOST:8123/iwc/licenseManager....6666-7777-8888

The resulting page should display success|99 at the top left of the page.

  6. In your web browser, click Back.
  7. Download the deactivation receipt.
  8. Continue with the offline deactivation steps in the Customer Portal.

Your licenses should now be deactivated.
