An error occurred processing the authorization file used to store the password required for use of this feature

Updated March 17, 2017

Overview

DPA allows for SQL code to be run for custom alerts. This feature can be locked to a password to avoid malicious SQL.

If the XML file where this feature for security is configured is not able to parse the file, the error is displayed each time you enter a custom metric or edit one.

When DPA was initially installed, this password is not set. This is available in the Pptions menu under Options > Administration tab." Security Not Enabled: Protect against malicious SQL by configuring security for Custom Metrics and Custom Alerts"

Here is the error if the file has an issue.

An error occurred processing the authorization file used to store the password required for use of this feature.

Ensure that the required properties have been entered correctly in the authorization file contained in the directory:

DPA_INSTALL_DIR/iwc/tomcat/ignite_config_iwc/security

If you cannot resolve this error, contact DPA support.

Environment

All DPA versions

Cause

The file in path DPA_INSTALL_/iwc/tomcat/ignite_config/iwc/security/sqlauth.xml is not able to parse as valid XML.

Resolution

Check and fix the xml file for any unnecessary or invalid characters such as -- in the comment.
