Java VM needed in DPA

Overview

DPA is a web-based application written in Java. It therefore needs a Java Virtual Machine (i.e. a JRE or JDK) in order to run. When DPA starts up the first time, it searches for a JRE or JDK that is already installed on the server. 

Note: This typically does not happen on Windows, Linux or Solaris since DPA ships with the appropriate JRE.

Environment

  • All versions of DPA

Steps

If DPA did not find a JRE or JDK version 1.5 or higher perform the following steps to complete the DPA installation:

  1. Download and install a new JRE/JDK from one of the following sources:
  2. Delete the DPA_home/iwc/tomcat/ignite_config/cat.txt file.
  3. Restart DPA.
    • On a UNIX-based OS, run shutdown.sh and then startup.sh.
