DPA buttons do not work

Table of contents

This article applies to DPA 8.0 and later.

Overview

DPA buttons do not work in Internet Explorer.

Cause

DPA uses JavaScript, but Internet Explorer may be configured to disable JavaScript for security reasons. If JavaScript is disabled, DPA buttons do not work. This security setting is more often configured for server versions of operating systems, such as Windows 2003 Server. This is because Enhanced Security Configuration is enabled by default on Windows Server.

Resolution

  • Access DPA on a client computer, and not the DPA server. Or, use another browser such as Chrome or Firefox.
  • Check if JavaScript is disabled in the browser settings.

If the above solutions are not feasible, identify the computer running the DPA server as a local site. Follow these steps to enable scripting, assuming that the local intranet was not further locked down by the system administrator:

  1. In Internet Explorer, click Tools > Internet options.
  2. Click the Security tab, and click Local Intranet.
  3. Click Sites.
  4. Click Advanced.
  5. Add the following website:

    http://yourservername:8123

  6. Click Add, and Close.

If the local intranet was locked down by the system administrator, follow these steps to enable scripting for all web sites:

  1. In Internet Explorer, click Tools > Internet options.
  2. Click the Security tab, and click Local Intranet.
  3. Click Custom level.
  4. Under Scripting > Active Scripting, click Enable, and then click OK.
