DPA Monitor does not start on Sybase with error: Attempt to insert duplicate key row in object sysstatistics

Updated March 27th, 2017

Overview

DPA monitor does not start on Sybase ASE and displays the following error message:

Attempt to insert duplicate key row in object sysstatistics

Environment

  • All versions of DPA
  • Sybase ASE

Cause

This is due to corrupted indexes in the Sybase master database.

Resolution

Follow the instructions in Fixing corrupted indexes (© 2016 Sybase, available at https://www.sap.com/index.html, obtained on November 9, 2016) to fix indexes in the sysstatistics table in the master database.

Note: Put the database into single user mode. Refer to How to Start Adaptive Server in Single User Mode (© 2016 Sybase, available at https://www.sap.com/index.html, obtained on November 9, 2016) before calling the sp_fixindex.
