The remote system is not currently at the Logon Desktop

Updated May 26, 2017

Overview

This article addresses the following error:

The remote system is not currently at the Logon Desktop. Your credentials do not allow for access at the current desktop state.

Environment

All DameWare Mini Remote Control versions

Cause

This error occurs when the user does not have administrator rights within the OS security on the remote machine and the "Permission Required for these Account Types" setting is disabled.

Non-administrators will always require explicit permissions from the desktop user before they can connect, but if the "Permission Required for these Account Types" setting is disabled, any non-administrator user will be denied access to the machine without prompting the desktop user to accept the connection.

Resolution

  1. Check if the Windows user account is a member of the administrator group.
  2. If the user is not an administrator, see Enable non-administrators to connect to a remote machine.
