Smart Card Authentication failed in Dameware Mini Remote Control (DMRC) with Windows 10

Overview

The following error message is displayed in DMRC when using a Windows 10 device or when Credential Guard is enabled:

Smart Card Authentication failed:

Remote Message: Failed to retrieve required card information for Smart Card Logon support.

If the 'Remote Message' above doesn't indicate the failure, please check the Application event log on the remote machine for a possible cause.

 

 

 

Environment

  • DameWare Mini Remote Control 12.0.3 to 12.0.4
  • Windows 10

Resolution

Download Hotfix 1 and install it on the remote machine.
