MRC does not save authentication details when launched from DRS Network Browser

Updated April 26, 2018

Overview

When you establish an MRC connection to a remote computer from the Network Browser in DRS, MRC does not save the authentication details for that client.

Environment

DameWare Mini Remote Control 9.0

Cause

When launched from DRS, MRC creates a temporary entry in the Saved Host List and marks the Use Current Logon Credentials option by default. You cannot change this option for temporary Saved Host List entries, and it clears any changes to the authentication details when you attempt to save the entry. This is a known issue and will be addressed in a future release.

Resolution

Create a new (permanent) entry for the remote system that includes the appropriate authentication details:

  1. In the Remote Connect dialog in MRC, click New.
  2. In the New Host window, enter the IP address or hostname for the remote system.
  3. Click OK.
  4. Back in the Remote Connect window, enter the credentials for the system in the Authentication section.
  5. Click Save in the Remote Connect toolbar.
