How to Hide the MRC Agent System Tray Icon

Table of contents

Updated March 12, 2018

Overview

The MRC Agent has a System Tray Icon where you can access its settings. When you make changes to the agent settings (usually through group policy), a message says that the MRC Agent is reconfiguring. You can hide the icon to disable the message.

Environment

  • Dameware Mini Remote Control 9.x and later

Steps

1.  On the target machine, right click the MRC Agent icon and click Settings.

2.  Go to the Additional Settings tab.

3.  Uncheck the option "Show Tray Icon."

OR

1.  Open the registry editor.

2.  Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DameWare Development\Mini Remote Control Service\Settings

3.  Modify/Edit DWORD TrayIcon to value = 0   (value = 1  enables or makes visible the tray icon).

The registry key method is useful for deploying the settings through a group policy.
