Hide maintenance banners in Dameware

Overview

This article provides steps on how to remove maintenance banners in Dameware.

Environment

  • Dameware Remote Support version(s) 10.0 and later
  • Dameware Mini Remote Control version(s) 10.0 and later

Steps

You may need to create the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DameWare Development key.

SolarWinds strongly recommends that you back up your registry before making any edits to your system registry. You should only edit the registry if you are experienced and confident in doing so. Using a registry editor incorrectly can cause serious issues with your operating system, which could require you to reinstall your operating system to correct them. SolarWinds cannot guarantee resolutions to any damage resulting from making registry edits.

1. Hide Maintenance Banners

You can hide maintenance banners that ensure you have enough warning before your maintenance period expires. Edit the registry and enter one of the values for Show Maintenance Banner:

  • 0 - No one will see the maintenance banners. The maintenance period may expire without your knowledge. 
  • 1 - Only administrators see the maintenance banners. 
  • 2 - All users see the maintenance banners. 

Modify the registry for Dameware Remote Support or Mini Remote Control applications

These instructions apply to all installations except when the 32-bit version of Mini Remote Control is installed on a 64-bit  computer.

Option 1

  1. Press the Windows key + R, and type regedit
  2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DAMREWARE Development.
  3. Create a new DWORD value, and name it: Show Maintenance Banner
  4. Enter the data for the DWORD value:
    1. Right-click the value, and then select Modify.
    2. In the new DWORD value field, enter the data.

Option 2

Note: 0 is the value that disables the maintenance banner.

  1. Open CMD with administrative rights.
  2. Run the command:
    cmd /c reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\DameWare Development" /v "Show Maintenance Banner" /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

Modify the registry for 32-bit Mini Remote Control applications installed on a 64-bit computers

Option 1

  1. Press the Windows key + R, and type regedit
  2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Dameware Development.
  3. Create a new DWORD value, and name it: Show Maintenance Banner
  4. Enter the data for the DWORD value:
    1. Right-click the value, and then select Modify.
    2. In the new DWORD value field, enter the data.

Option 2

Note: 0 is the value that disables the maintenance banner. 

  1. Open CMD with administrator rights.
  2. Run the command:
    cmd /c reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\DameWare Development" /v "Show Maintenance Banner" /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

2. Hide Integration Banners

You can hide the integration mode banners that indicate you are using a limited version of MRC by opening the application through Web Help Desk. Edit the registry, and enter one of the following values for Show WHD Banner. 

  • 0 - No one will see the banners.
  • 1 - Only administrator see the banners.
  • 2 - All users see the banners.

  3. Create a new DWORD value, and name it: Show WHD Banner
  4. Enter the data for the DWORD value:

Note: 0 is the value that disables the WHD banner.

  1. Open CMD with administrative rights.
  2. Run the command:
    cmd /c reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\DameWare Development" /v "Show WHD Banner" /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

Modify the registry for 32-bit Mini Remote Control applications installed on 64-bit computers

Option 1

  1. Press the Windows key + R, and type regedit.
  2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Dameware Development. 
  3. Create a new DWORD value, and name it: Show WHD Banner
  4. Enter the data for the DWORD value. To do this:
    1. Right-click the value, and then select Modify. 
    2. In the new DWORD value field, enter the data.

Option 2

Note: 0 is the value that disables the WHD banner.

  1. Open CMD with administrative rights.
  2. Run the command:
    cmd /c reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\DameWare Development" /v "Show WHD Banner" /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

 

When the maintenance banner settings are modified in the registry, and the Dameware program is run as a different user without permissions to read the registry, the settings will not take effect.
