Connection problems when initiating a reverse connection over port 6130

Overview

On a computer running DameWare Mobile Gateway, you encounter connection issues when initiating a reverse connection.

Environment

  • DameWare Remote Support v11.0 and later
  • All DameWare Mini Remote Control versions

Cause

The default reverse connection port number is the same as the default communication port number for DameWare Mobile Gateway.

Resolution

  1. When initializing a reverse connection on the MRC application on a computer with Mobile Gateway installed on it, enter a different port number.
  2. Communicate this port number to the user on the remote computer.

Note: You can also change the default DameWare Mobile Gateway communication port number if this scenario happens frequently.
