Hide maintenance banners in DameWare

Overview

This article provides steps on how to remove maintenance banners in Dameware.

Environment

  • DameWare Remote Support version(s) 10.0 and later
  • DameWare Mini Remote Control version(s) 10.0 and later

Steps

Note: You may need to create the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DameWare Development key.

Hiding Maintenance Banners

You can hide maintenance banners that ensure you have enough warning before your maintenance period expires. Edit the registry and enter one of the values for Show Maintenance Banner:

0 - No one will see the maintenance banners. The maintenance period may expire without your knowledge. 

1 - Only administrators see the maintenance banners. 

2 - All users see the maintenance banners. 

 

To modify the registry for Dameware Remote Support or Mini Remote Control applications for all instances except when a 32-bit Mini Remote Control application is installed on a 64-bit  computer:

Option 1

  1. Press the Windows key + R, and type regedit. 
  2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DAMREWARE Development.
  3. Create a new DWORD value, and name it Show Maintenance Banner. 
  4. Enter the data for the DWORD value:
    1. Right-click the value, and then select Modify.
    2. In the new DWORD value field, enter the data.

Option 2

cmd /c reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\DameWare Development" /v "Show Maintenance Banner" /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

Note: 0 is the value that disables the maintenance banner.

  1. Open CMD with administrative rights.
  2. Run the following command.

 

To modify the registry for 32-bit Mini Remote Control applications installed on a 64-bit computers:

Option 1

  1. Press the Windows key + R, and type regedit. 
  2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Dameware Development.
  3. Create a new DWORD value, and name it Show Maintenance Banner.
  4. Enter the data for the DWORD value:
    1. Right-click the value, and then select Modify.
    2. In the new DWORD value field, enter the data.

Option 2

cmd /c reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\DameWare Development" /v "Show Maintenance Banner" /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

Note: 0 is the value that disables the maintenance banner. 

  1. Open CMD with administrator rights.
  2. Run the command. 

 

Hide Integration Banners

You can hide the integration mode banners which indicates the you are using a limited version of MRC due to opening the application through Web Help Desk. Edit the registry, and enter one of the following values for Show WHD Banner. 

0 - No one will see the banners.

1 - Only administrator see the banners.

2 - All users see the banners. 

 

To modify the registry for Dameware Remote Support or Mini Remote Control applications for all instances except when a 32-bit Mini Remote Control application is installed on a 64-bit computers:

Option 1

  1. Press the Windows key + R, and type regedit. 
  2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL _MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Dameware Development.
  3. Create a new DWORD value, and name it Show WHD Banner.
  4. Enter the data for the DWORD value:
    1. Right-click the value, and then select Modify. 
    2. IN the new DWORD value field, enter the data.

Option 2 

cmd /c reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\DameWare Development" /v "Show WHD Banner" /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

Note: 0 is the value that disables the WHD banner.

  1. Open CMD with administrative rights.
  2. Run the command.

 

To modify the registry for 32-bit Mini Remote Control applications installed on 64-bit computers:

Option 1

  1. Press the Windows key + R, and type regedit.
  2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Dameware Development. 
  3. Create a new DWORD value, and name it Show WHD Banner. 
  4. Enter the datta for the DWORD value. To do this:
    1. Right-click the value, and then select Modify. 
    2. In the new DWORD value fied, enter the data.

Option 2

cmd /c reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\DameWare Development" /v "Show WHD Banner" /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

Note: 0 is the value that disables the WHD banner.

  1. Open CMD with administrative rights.
  2. Run the command.

 

Note: When the maintenance banner settings are modified in the registry, and the Dameware program is run as a different user without permissions to red the registry, the settings will not take effect.
