This topic applies to:

  • Remote Support, centralized mode
  • Mini Remote Control, centralized mode

If you have deployed Dameware Mini Remote Control in centralized mode, you use the Dameware Administration Console to manage Central Server users and Global Host Lists. If you have deployed Dameware Remote Support in centralized mode, in addition to managing Central Server users and Global Host Lists, you use the Dameware Administration Console to manage Internet Sessions and settings, Internet Proxy settings, and Mobile Gateway users, sessions, and settings.

To connect to the Dameware Administration Console, collect the following:

  • The Dameware Central Server IP address or host name
  • The Dameware service port number (the default port number is 6133)

When you log in to the Dameware Administration console, you choose an authentication method:

  • Window authentication: Use when the Administration Console and the Central Server are located in the same domain or are in different domains, provided the domains have a trust relationship between them. To enable this method of authentication, the user account must also be synchronized with the Active Directory server on the Dameware Central Server. If a user account is not assigned administrator privileges, the user cannot log in to the Administrator Console.
  • Dameware authentication: This is the most common method of authentication where user accounts are independent of other credentials. The default administrator name is admin and the default password is admin. If a user account is not assigned administrator privileges, the user cannot log in to the Administrator Console.

Before you begin, ensure that you have installed Dameware.

  1. Launch the Dameware Administration Console.
  2. Enter the Central Server IP address or host name, and port number.
  3. To log in with your Active Directory credentials, select Windows authentication.
  4. To log in with your Dameware credentials, select Dameware authentication, and enter you user name and password.
  5. Click Connect to Server.

The Dameware Central Server Administration Console window displays.
