The DameWare Internet Proxy allows you to connect to end users over the Internet. Using Mini Remote Control or Remote Support without the DameWare Internet Proxy only allows you to connect to end points on your network; you cannot connect to end users who are not within your network or on your VPN. The Internet Proxy bridges this gap in connectivity and allows you to help Internet-connected end users.
The DameWare Internet Proxy is in conjunction with the DameWare Central Server to open Internet Sessions to remote computers. The DameWare Internet Proxy also installs a web server which allows end users to download a DameWare Internet Session agent when necessary. This agent grants technicians the ability to control the remote computer. If you have pre-installed an up-to-date Mini Remote Control client agent, your users do not need to download another agent.
You cannot use the DameWare Internet Proxy as a generic proxy within your network.
End users cannot use a proxy to connect to the Internet.
