Overview

Hotfix 1 corrects an issue involving remote logons with smart cards. After the hotfix is applied, you can select your smart card certificate in the following ways:

  • DameWare Remote Support - Click "Logon As" and select "Use Smartcard" in the logon dialog
  • DameWare Mini Remote Control - Choose smartcard authentication during the service installation to make smart card authentication the default authentication method
  • DameWare Mini Remote Control - Enter the PIN in the connection dialog to logon with the default certificate on your smart card, or enter the User ID, Domain, and PIN to use a different smart card credential

Switching between multiple certificates is supported on versions of Microsoft Windows Vista or later.

Download Hotfix 1 from the SolarWinds Customer Portal.

This hotfix requires DameWare version 9.0.1 and can be applied to both 32-bit and 64-bit installations.

  • DameWare Remote Support - Version(s) Version 9.0.1
  • DameWare Mini Remote Control - Version(s) Version 9.0.1

Detail

Hotfix 1 modifies the following files on the DameWare installation:

  • DNTU.exe
  • DWRCC.exe
  • DWRCD.dll
  • DWRCS.exe
  • DWRCS.exe.x64 or DWRCS.exe.Win32

To install this hotfix on DameWare Remote Support:

  1. Stop the DameWare application.
  2. Backup the modified files.
  3. Extract the contents of the .ZIP file
  4. Copy and paste the files into your DameWare installation folder, generally located at C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\DameWare Remote Support 9.0
  5. Restart the application.

To install this hotfix on DameWare Mini Remorte Control:

  1. Stop the DameWare application.
  2. Backup the modified files.
  3. Extract the contents of the .ZIP file
  4. Copy and paste the files into your DameWare installation folder, generally located at C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\DameWare Mini Remote Control 9.0
  5. Restart the application.
  6. Reinstall the client agent service on each remote computer by clicking "File" > "Remove Service" and then "File" > "Install Service".
