Dameware Installation

Stand-alone installation

The stand-alone installation requires each product to be individually activated on each computer. It is most useful for organizations with a small user base or with small or decentralized IT departments.

For more information on the stand-alone installation, see Dameware Stand-alone Installation Guide.

Centralized installation

The centralized installation requires that you install the Dameware Central Server and either Dameware Remote Support or Dameware Mini Remote Control. License activation occurs on the server level and users authenticate to the Central Server from any centralized Remote Support or Mini Remote Control installation. Centralized mode is useful for organizations with a large user base, with large or centralized IT departments, or with multiple DameWare product licenses managed from a single point.

For more information on the centralized installation, see Dameware Centralized Installation Guide.

Upgrade Dameware

There are no specific instructions for upgrading Dameware. You can install a new version of Dameware over an older version of Dameware. The installer of the new version of Dameware uninstalls the old version of Dameware for you.

Licensing

Each stand-alone license of Dameware Remote Support and Dameware Mini Remote Control can be activated a maximum of three times. See Dameware stand-alone licensing for more information.

The centralized versions of Dameware Remote Support and Dameware Mini Remote Control are licensed on the Central Server. During the installation process, a license key is entered for either Dameware Remote SupportCentralized or Dameware Mini Remote Control Centralized, based on what you have purchased. See Dameware centralized licensing for more information.
