Request for a temporary License Key

Overview

This article describes why a temporary license key would be needed and the steps the you need to take to request a temporary license key.

 

Most Orion products allow a 30 day trial upon installation. However, a longer trial period would require a temporary license key.  

Steps

Reasons why a temporary license would be required:

  • You wish to migrate your license(s) to a new server. You wish to test the license(s) on the new server and get everything up and running before applying the production license(s) to the new machine.
  • You wish to test a new version before applying it to a production environment.

 

How to request a temporary license:

  1. Submit a case to Customer Service - https://customerportal.solarwinds.com/support/submit-a-ticket/
  2. State your reason for requesting a temporary license key.
  3. Provide the Product and size of license you are requiring. For example, NPM SL500 or SAM ALX
  4. Customer Service will generate a 30 day temporary license and provide the key to you via the case. It will not show in your Customer Portal. If you require a longer time period, state that in your case and your request will be reviewed.
  5. If the server you need to apply the temporary license key to is OFFLINE, Customer Service requires the following information to generate an offline license file for you:

    Name:
    Email:
    Phone:
    Computer Name:
    Unique Machine ID:
