How to Reset your DameWare license

This article provides information on how you can reset your Dameware license. SolarWinds customer that owns DameWare has three options to reset the license registration without requiring contacting Technical Support. 


  • Any device that has or had DameWare registered on it and now needs to be deactivated
  • The device can be available or have been decommissioned 


If the machine is online and accessible:

  • Use the updated License Manager tool to deactivate your licenses.  Ensure the latest version of License Manager is installed by downloading the following link and running the License Manager installer:

  • Check the box on the left of the license that needs deactivating.  Click Deactivate to unregister this license.

If the machine is offline and accessible:

  • You are able to reset your license within your customer portal with the new updated License Manager tool v3.0.0.910.

  • You are able to create a license reset file that can be uploaded to your customer portal.  
  • Once the file is uploaded, your license/s show as unregistered in your portal and will allow you to register the product. Check the link below:

If you no longer have access to the machine Dameware is running on, this still allows you to reset your Dameware license via your customer portal. You can also do it manually by following the procedure below. 

  1. Go to the License Management tab, click on License Management from the list.
  2. Find your license key and click Deactivate license manually.
  3. Select I don't have access to the machine with the SolarWinds product.  Visit this link for more information.
  4. Click Reset License on the bottom right of the screen.
  5. Find your computer name from the available listing, click on the box on the left.
  6. Click Reset License.


The installation count will be updated in your customer portal and that computer will now show a listing for parked which lets you know that installation count was given back.

  • NOTE: You can do multiple resets if you are cleaning up previous registrations.
