Overview

This article provides steps on how to generate a Unique Machine ID when you need to preform an offline activation for .net products.*

*NOTE:   These instructions will not work for Patch Manager.

Steps

If a machine is not connected to the Internet or is behind a proxy, online activation of your license will not be successful and you will need to manually register. You need to generate a Unique Machine ID in order to generate an offline license file. To do this, follow the steps below:

  1. Install the SolarWinds product on the machine you want to license.
  2. Launch the SolarWinds product and click Enter Licensing Information.
  3. Select This server does not have internet access. Guide me through offline, manual activation, and click Next.
  4. Click Copy Unique Machine ID to copy to your clipboard.
  5. Go to your Customer Portal > License Management > underneath the activation key click Activate License Manually > complete the fields, including entering the Unique Machine ID you copied earlier > and Generate License File.
  6. Save the license file to a shared location that the machine can access.
  7. Go back to the screen where you generated the Unique Machine ID. Click Browse, and then select the location you saved the file.
  8. Follow the steps, and click finish.
  9. Restart the installation for everything to update.
