Overview

Scheduled jobs fail to run at the specified time.

Environment

  • NCM 7.1.1 and earlier

Causes

  • Incorrect password or insufficient permissions on the server running NCM on the account associated with the Windows Task which executes job.
  • Nodes are set up to be connected with User Credentials.  When this is set, the job when running on a schedule will use the credentials of the last person to edit the job.  Ensure this user is a Windows Administrator on the NCM server

Resolutions

  • Create a generic task in Windows Task Scheduler and verify that it works using the same credentials used in the NCM scheduled task. If the scheduled task works, re-enter the same credentials into the NCM job which is not working and test it. This step rules out issues with the Windows Task Scheduler. Check permissions on the NCM server.
  • Find the NCM installation path C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Configuration Management and verify the Network Service account has full access to both the Jobs subfolder and the ConfigMgmtJob.exe file.
