Manually transfer Agent and Certificates to other FoE servers

Overview

This article provides steps on how to manually transferr agent and server certificates to other FoE protected servers.

Environment

All versions of FoE

Steps

  1. Change or set the primary FoE server to Active.
  2. Install the agent on the primary server.
  3. Change the secondary server to Activewhile ensuring that that agent is not running on the primary server after the switchover. Stop the service if necessary.
  4. Download the agent .msi file from the Agent Management Administration in the Orion Web Console by going to Settings > Agent Settings > Download Agent Software.
  5. Install the agent .msi in the secondary server.
  6. Change the primary FoE server to Active.
  7. Shut down the FoE including the managed applications both on the primary and secondary servers.
  8. Delete the agent certificate in the SolarWinds Agent store on the primary server.
  9. Export the agent certificate on the secondary server form Computer account > SolarWinds Agent store. Include the private key and extended properties on the exported file.
  10. Import the agent certificate on the primary server to Computer account > SolarWinds Agent store. Mark the primary key as exportable.
  11. Start FoE and its managed applications.
