Overview

The Email option on the Additional Settings tab in Mini Remote Control properties on MRC clients instructs the program to send an email to the specified address anytime an MRC user establishes a remote connection to the client computer. By default, the program uses email port 25. Currently, the Email Notification dialog does not provide an option to customize this port.

This article describes how to assign a custom port for DameWare email notifications.

Environment

DameWare Mini Remote Control v8.0

Steps

  1. Stop the DameWare Mini Remote Control service on the client computer.
  2. Open the Registry Editor (regedit.exe).
  3. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > DameWare Development > Mini Remote Control Service, and then select Settings.
  4. Add the DWORD value, SMTP Port by clicking Edit > New > DWORD Value and then enter the SMTP Port.
  5. Assign a valid port number to the new parameter:
    a. Select the new value, then click Edit > Modify.
    b. Select Decimal.
    c. Enter the decimal port value. For example, to use the default port, enter 25.
    d. Click Ok.
  6. Restart the DameWare Mini Remote Control service.
