Auditing event activities are not recorded on the additional web server

When orion web console users are browsing through the additional web server, auditing events are not being recorded into the database.


For example, login and logout activities of orion users are not being recorded when using the additional web server, however events show ok when they are logged into the primary web console.


Steps to determine or reproduce this issue:


Login to primary web console


Login to additional web server



Open database manager and run this query which simply selects all login and logout events sorted by the most recent time.


SELECT TOP 1000 * FROM [dbo].[AuditingEvents]
where ActionTypeID IN ('1','2')
order byTimeLoggedUtc DESC


From here, you should see the times you logged on and verify that you do not see any auditing events recorded for when you logged on to the additional web server.

Please check the certificate matches on the primary poller and additional web server

  1. Click the Start menu and type MMC in the search box.
  2. Click File > Add/Remove snap-in.
    Select the certificates snap-in, then click add


    Select computer account then click next.

  3. In the next window, select local computer: (the computer this console is running on) and then click Finish.
    Click ok in the add or remove Snap-ins window.
  4. Expand the certificates > expand personal > select certificates.
    Double click the Solarwinds-Orion certificate and click details tab.
    Identify which is incorrect or has a mismatch. For example, if the primary server is using an md5 cert and the additional web server is using sha1.

  6. To export the certificate:
    1. Right click the Solarwinds-Orion certificate that you want to export > All tasks and then click export.

    2. Click Next, in the certificate export wizard.

    3. Click Yes if the certificate is to be used on another computer.
      Export the private key and then click Next.
      Note: This option will appear only if the private key is marked as exportable and you have access to it.

    4. Click Next. Type the password you want to use to encrypt the key.
      Click Next upon confirmation.

    5. The export process creates a file to store the certificate in.
      Enter a name for the file and the entire path of the location.
      Alternatively you can click Browse, navigate to the location, and then enter the file name.

    6. Click Finish.

  7. To Import the certificate:

    1. Click the folder where the certificate is to be imported.
      Click the action menu > All tasks and then click Import.
    2. Click next and then follow the instructions..
