Unable to display maps without restarting IIS on the server running Network Monitor

Overview

Maps are not displaying in NPM unless IIS is restarted on the server running Network Monitor.

Environment

NPM 10.6

Resolution

  1. Grant the user and network service full rights to the following folder and sub-directories:
    • C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Crypto 
      • C:\Windows\Temp\SolarWinds
      • C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds
      • C:\Inetpub\SolarWinds
  2. Run C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\OrionPermissionChecker.exe
  3. Click Check. 
  4. After Permission Checker completes, click Repair.
  5. Repair the following:
    • JobEnginev2
    • JobsTracker.sdf
    • PollingController.sdf
    • Information Service
  6. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion
  7. Open SWNetPerfMon.DB in a text editor and apply the following:
    ! Connection timeout in seconds
    Timeout=40
    ! Database Command timeout in seconds
    CommandTimeout=250
    ! SqlCommand.CommandTimeout in seconds
    SqlCommandTimeout=30
  8. Disable any unused NICs. Refer to Enable or disable a network adapter.
