Overview

After upgrading to NPM 12, you come across an error in solarwinds information service V3 in  C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\InformationService\v3.0\Orion.InformationService.log

 

'.', hexadecimal value 0x00, is an invalid character

Environment

NPM 12 where Orion Global Search (OGS) is still installed.

Cause 

The Orion Global Search (OGS) was a technical preview, and should not be installed on NPM 12.

Resolution

Uninstall Orion Global Search (OGS). Refer to this article.
