EOC fails to poll when Job DLL is not unblocked

Overview

This article describes the issue when Enterprise Operations Console fails to poll because Job DLL does not unblock. Some releases of EOC hot fixes require solarwinds.eoc.jobs.dll to be replaced, which may cause the file to block and polling to fail.

Normally, right-clicking the file, going to properties, and selecting "Unblock" fixes the issue. However, there are cases where these steps do not unblock, causing the polling to fail.

Environment

All versions of EOC

Cause

This issue occurs due to Windows file security enforcement on EOC files.

Resolution

  1. Find the solarwinds.eoc.jobs.dll file in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\EOC\bin
  2. Copy the file to a temp folder.
  3. Unblock the copied file in the temp folder by right-clicking the file > Properties > Select "Unblock".
  4. Rename the old file in the original folder and replace it with the unblocked file from the temp folder.
  5. Check the file's properties to make sure that it is still unblocked.
  6. Restart all Solar\Winds services in the Windows services.msc snap-in.
