Overview

The Machines tab in DPA shows all the SolarWinds servers and pollers as one machine.

Environment

  • DPA 9 and later
  • NPM 11.5 and later

Resolution

  1. Log in to the pollers with an admin account.
  2. Stop SolarWinds Services. Refer to Start and stop Orion services.
  3. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion
  4. Open the SWNetPerfMon.DB file in a text editor.
  5. Change the workstation ID from SolarWinds to the poller hostname in the top three connection strings.
    Example:
    Default Strings:
    # Encrypted Connection String for SQL Server added by Orion Core Services
    # 12/19/2015 5:23:55 PM
    ConnectionString=provider=SQLOLEDB.1;persist security info=False;use procedure for prepare=1;auto translate=True;packet size=4096;workstation id=SolarWinds;use encryption for data=FALSE;tag with column collation when possible=False; ....

    New Strings:
    # Encrypted Connection String for SQL Server added by Orion Core Services
    # 12/19/2015 5:23:55 PM
    ConnectionString=provider=SQLOLEDB.1;persist security info=False;use procedure for prepare=1;auto translate=True;packet size=4096;workstation id=INSERTHOSTNAME;use encryption for data=FALSE;tag with column collation when possible=False; ....
