This article provides steps to modify WHD integration.

MRC is designed to automatically open the connection if the host is already saved in the Saved Host List. If a host entry does not exist, then you are prompted for credentials in the Remote Connection dialog. Your default credentials are filled in, if available.

  • WHD version 12.2
  • DameWare Remote Support version 11.1 or later
  • DameWare Mini Remote Control version 11.1 or later

To modify these behaviors, modify the registry on the WHD server. You can use any applicable command line option in KB 300002.

  1. Logon as an administrator to the computer running the WHD server.
  2. Open regedit and navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\dwrcc\shell\open\command.
  3. Open the key and modify the command with the appropriate switches.

Common modifications include:

  • Removing -c from the registry to prompt for credentials every time a connection opens.
  • Adding -h to the registry to use the default credentials (located in View > Default Host Properties > Authentication Options) to connect to the remote computer.
